Five for Friday

Yay!!! It's Friday!!! So, now that I'm on summer break... why am I so excited that it's Friday? Isn't EVERY day Friday? Well, no. My husband gets one day a week off and it's on... you guessed it! Friday!!! I am so excited to have him home today. :)

Today I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for her Five for Friday linky party.

1. My daughter Karis is 2 yrs old, almost 3. With the boys, I potty trained them by the time they were 2 1/2 yrs old. But she is my last one so really, what's the rush? Well, Karis was having none of that and decided this week that she wanted to wear big girl underwear and so she basically potty trained herself while I *might* have discouraged it since we have a loooong road trip next week and diapers are just easier - don't judge me.  Then the other day she informed me that she no longer needed a treat for going potty since big girls don't get treats for going potty. WHAT???!! Why is she growing up so fast?? Waaaaaaaa!!!!

2. I lead a group called Good Morning Girls with my friends. It's basically a group of girls that I put together to do life with and keep each other accountable in life and in reading our bibles. We email each other every morning and say "Good morning girls!" Then we write about things that we are struggling with, what we've been learning, and ask each other for advice. Some of them had never met since their connection was me. I live in CA and there is a friend from TN in our group. It's so cool! This week we got to have a fun girl's night a Cheesecake Factory (without my TN friend. Boooo!) and they finally got to meet the people that they've been doing life with and pouring their hearts out to for over a yr! :)

3. Boot camp! I am so proud of myself for waking up early to do this... even though my hubby reminds me that when I don't go to sleep early and get enough rest...EVERYBODY suffers! Lol. It's sad but true... just being honest here.  I have 1 more week of boot camp left before my offer expires. It's been fun. I was able to snap a few quick shots with my phone. I didn't want to get yelled at. Lol.

Using a HEAVY sledgehammer, you lift it over your head and slam it down on the tire.

This is my friend flipping a huge tire across the room.

Running with a sand bag around the building complex... then throwing up afterwards. JK. No, not really.
4. Garage is SO close to being done. For those of you who have been following me, you know that we have been working on this project for the past 6 months. I will have to post pics of the finished product.

5. My boys have been in VBS this whole week so I've been getting to spend some special times with this little lady...

Hope you're enjoying your summer. Thanks for reading friends!

Blessings,

Cha, Cha, Cha, Cha, Changes....

Well, it's summertime and things have been changing around here. First off, my daughter Karis has been asking to sleep in a big bed for quite some time now. She is almost 3 and if I had it my way, she would have been in a crib until she was 5. She is my third child and I've noticed that things are just more relaxed when you get to #3. Both my boys were potty trained and out of a crib by 2 1/2 yrs old, but with her???.... naaah... what's the rush, really???  Sometimes we are just happy that she is alive and knows her name. Ha! Yes, there *may* have been times when we've forgotten that we have 3 kids to watch over while in a crowded area. We may have "lost" her for a little bit. This might  have happened to me -----> (taking mental count at the campground) ...child #1. check. child #2. check........ (mins pass)... child #3. WAIT. CHILD #3??!!!!! Ok, so before you call CPS I assure you that the family we found her with was a nice looking family. JUUUUST JOKING.... really, I am.

So with the pleading request of my 2 yr old daughter, we finally put her in her big girl bed. I didn't think that I was going to be so emotional, but I was. I mean, I didn't even prepare myself for her last time in her crib. I imagined taking her shopping to pick out her new sheets, but it all happened so fast. Before I knew it, I was crying like a baby while she HAPPILY jumped up and down squealing with excitement in her new bed.

This is Karis' room before. It looked so beautiful with the white crib.

Ok, these next pics are pretty bad lighting. I used my cell phone to take these so the room  looks purpley. Anyhow, this is the last time Karis was in her crib.  She looks sad...doesn't she? Oh, maybe that was me.

This is her new bed set up. She was so excited to sleep in it that she couldn't even wait for us to take the crib down. Daddy is praying with her while Mommy is crying in the corner.. with a camera, of course!

I just HAD to throw in this pic of my sweet girl praying.

ANOTHER change that we have been working on is our garage renovation. We have a 3 car garage that we are converting over to a playroom/workshop. The one car garage will be for my hubby's tools while the 2 car garage will be made over into a hang out area. This is what it look like about a few weeks ago. Now it looks like this:

Don't worry, all those wires will be covered when we can get a different TV. It wasn't in the budget so we have a temporary one there now. All those wires really bug me. Just a few more shelving and door frames and this room will be FINALLY done!
Aren't these so cool? My hubby found these awesome bean bag type seats at Walmart. They are SUPER comfy , our kids love them, and best of all... they match!!

So lots of changes here. My little Karis has also been wanting to get out of diapers, too.. but this mama is NOT ready for all this growing up. I have a feeling that she's not going to wait around for me to be catch up to her.

Thanks for reading friends.

Blessings,

Hello? Anyone there?

Hello!

Sorry that I've been MIA for these past few days. It is summer and while my heart has been wanting to write... the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Lol. I've been keeping busy with our garage makeover, creating a new TPT unit that will align my ELA Houghton Mifflin curriculum with the Common Core Standards and thinking maps, and going to an exciting training today and tomorrow.

Today I went to a depth and complexity training at USC.  This training will not only help me teach gifted students but all students as well. It's been so good but total information overload! I'm serious... at one point I thought that I saw smoke coming from my head. I'm already thinking of creating a depth and complexity unit for TPT this summer.  My mind was spinning from so many ideas and my brain was exhausted by the end of the day. We go back tomorrow for one last session so I'm *hoping* to get good sleep tonight so that my mind can be clear. I say *hoping* because, well you see.... some of my colleagues and I got a hotel room because we wanted a mini getaway to beat the LA traffic in the morning. I mean, we wouldn't want to be late or anything. ;) The conference ended at 3:30pm and we checked into our hotel room and got to rest a bit. Then we went out and had dinner and a nice treat afterwards.

I LOVE Pho!! Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup with bean sprouts and basil.  I love noodle soups! Our  hubbys don't really like it so we took this opportunity to go out and get our fix.

Next, we went to get cheap massages. Around here, you can go to these little Asian places and get massages for $15-$20 an hour!!! I feel asleep and woke up to a little Chinese lady shaking me.  Hee Hee.

Alrighty, I better jump into the shower and get some rest so that I am ready to take in more information tomorrow.

Nighty Night friends!

Currently and My Blog Got a FACE LIFT!!!!! :)

Yay!!!! My blog finally got a face lift!!!! One thing that it means is that I will not be needing my first post found here. I LOVE LOVE my new design from Honey Bunches! They were so easy to work with and totally accommodating to me. I mean I am high maintenance like to have things done a certain way and they were GREAT with all my requests. If you or anybody you know are thinking about giving your blog a fresh new look, I highly recommend them. You will not be sorry. :)

I am linking up with Farley at  Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for her May Currently.

- I love my kiddos but let's be honest... I also LOVE it when they are asleep. That is the time I get to reconnect with my honey and just have some time for myself without having to break up any arguments or wipe snotty noses. Right now though, my hubby is painting our garage.... which I will be joining him once I finish this post. This is the "Me" time I'm talking about right here. :)

- I raved about my new blog above already!

- Boot camp! I am really not a morning person AT ALL. I mean.. it's a wonder that I can get up and teach before 10am! Although there was this one time that I tried to open my classroom door with my car remote. Ha! I do love boot camp because not only do I get in shape, but my day gets started earlier, too. I leave when it's still dark and basically watch the sun rise. Did you know that the sun actually does rise in the east?? Amazing, huh?

- Mmmmm... almond butter and apples. Ever since I started boot camp, I've been super hungry! Yay for faster metabolism!

- End of the year madness for my boys! They finish in TWO DAYS and I have to get a few more things together for their teacher gifts. I'm such a procrastinator!

Love and live in my rainbow sandals in the summer! I'm so scared of getting skin cancer so I lather on the Neutrogena sunscreen with like SPF 300 or something like that. My mom is the typical Asian mom with huge sun hats and gloves. I used to make fun of her but now I secretly want to borrow them. I'm serious... I think she's onto something. :)

- I realize that I'm on my phone a lot more... on Instagram mostly. I've met so many new teacher bloggers that I just love reading about them and getting fresh ideas from them. They are all my best friends... they just don't know it yet. Ha!

Aaaaaand THAT'S what I've been currently up to in May. Thanks for reading friends!
